Our little setup for Jabai Creations is over in Surat, right in the middle of Sadhna Society on L. H. Road. If you’ve ever walked down Varachha Road, you know how busy it gets around here with all the traffic and people moving about. We are at 32-B, which is a place we’ve called home for our work for quite some time now. Dealing with textiles in Surat means there is always something happening. We spend our days surrounded by different fabrics and patterns. It’s not a shiny showroom with glass walls; it’s more of a practical workspace where we actually do the cutting and sorting. Sometimes the tea guy comes around twice a day because the work gets a bit tiring. We focus on making things that look good but don't cost a fortune. The guys here have been working with cloth for years, so they know a good thread when they see one. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We just wake up, come to the society, and start the machines. Sometimes the power goes out or the delivery truck gets stuck in the narrow lanes of Varachha, but that’s just life in this part of town. We keep a stack of ledgers to track everything because we still like doing things the old way. It works for us and keeps things honest between everyone involved in the business.
