J. K. PAPER LTD. has a unit here called Central Pulp Mills. It is situated in Fort Songadh. This place is pretty far out from the big cities. We deal with the pulp and paper process. It is a large site with a lot of heavy equipment and tall stacks. You can smell the wood and the processing from a distance. It is a 24-hour operation for the most part because you cannot just turn these things off easily. Many of the people who work here live in the nearby staff quarters. It is almost like a small village of its own. We have our own rhythm. The trucks come in with raw materials and leave with the finished rolls. The noise of the machinery is something you just get used to after a couple of days. We do not have a marketing department sitting here; we just have engineers and operators. The office is functional, with old desks and filing cabinets that have seen better days. It is a practical environment. We focus on getting the pulp right and keeping the paper machines moving. There is not much to do in Songadh besides work, so we all know each other pretty well. It is a steady life. We do not need fancy words to describe what we do. We just make paper and keep the mill running day after day.
