Our office is up on the fourth floor, room 401, in Laxmi Villas. It’s right on Ghoddod Road, which is one of those streets in Surat that never seems to go quiet. Being on the fourth floor is nice because we get away from the immediate street noise, though you can still hear the honking if the window is open. Laxmi Villas is an older building but it has character. We spend most of our mornings checking emails and talking to folks who walk in after lunch. Ghoddod Road has a lot of shops and people walking around, so there’s always something to look at. We don’t have a big corporate lobby or anything. It’s just a regular office space where we keep our files and calendars. The lift works most of the time, which is good because four floors is a lot to climb in this humidity. We’ve got a few desks pushed together and some old posters of different places on the walls. It’s where we do all our planning. People usually call us first, but some like to come up and sit down to talk about their plans. It’s a quiet enough spot once you get inside. We usually stay until late evening, watching the lights come on along the road below. It’s just us doing our thing in a corner of the 395007 area code.
