Gopal General Store

Gopal General Store is found in the Laxmi Tara Market in Surat. Being in a market area means there is always something going on and never a dull moment. There are other shops around, but we just focus on our own corner and our own customers. We sell general goods, the kind of small stuff that people realize they’ve run out of at the last minute. The market can be quite loud and hectic, especially on the weekends when everyone is out shopping, but we just stay behind the counter and keep things moving. We’ve got shelves full of all sorts of things, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what someone is looking for among all the boxes. It’s not a polished or high-end store by any means. It’s a practical place for practical people. We spend a lot of time cleaning and restocking because the market can be a bit dusty with all the foot traffic. We don’t have any big mission statements or fancy slogans to show off. We just open the shutters in the morning, sell what we have, and go home at night to rest. It’s hard work, standing on your feet all day, but it’s what we do to earn a living. The regulars in Laxmi Tara Market know they can find us here every day.
