Dimple Silk Mills

Our place is Shop No. 3006 in the Shiv Shakti Market. It is right near the Abhishek Market on the Ring Road in Surat. If you have been to Surat, you know the Ring Road is where everything happens for textiles. We have stacks of fabric all over the place. It smells like cloth and starch in here most of the time. We spend our days counting rolls and making sure orders are ready for the trucks. It is hard work and the market gets very crowded, especially in the afternoons. Sometimes it feels like the whole city is trying to squeeze into this one street. We have been in this shop for a long time now. The walls have seen a lot of seasons and could probably use a new coat of paint. We don't have fancy decorations or anything. It is a practical space for practical work. The elevators in the building are always busy, so we often just take the stairs to save time. Being in Shiv Shakti Market means we are close to everyone else in the trade. We know the tea seller and the guys who load the trucks in the alley. It is a community of people just trying to make a living. We keep our heads down and do our jobs. The lighting isn't the best, but we know where everything is kept. It is a simple life of managing silk and keeping track of our inventory day by day.
