Meena Al-ameen Fashion is over at C-05 in the Kuberji Textile Park. We are pretty close to Belgium Square, which is a busy landmark in this area. Being in a textile park means there’s always a lot of noise and movement. You’ve got trucks coming in and out, and people moving rolls of cloth all day. Our unit is just one of many, but we’ve made it our own over time. It’s a very industrial setting, with high ceilings and a lot of dust from the fabrics. We don’t really spend money on fancy decorations for the office. We just need the space for the machines and the stock. The heat in the afternoon can be something else, but the fans keep things moving. We spend our days checking the quality of the clothes and making sure the orders are ready to go. It’s a lot of standing and walking around on concrete floors. We aren't trying to be anything we’re not. We are just a fashion business trying to stay on top of the work in a very competitive textile hub. Most of our neighbors are doing the same thing, so there’s a sense of everyone just getting on with their jobs. It’s a practical, hardworking environment, and we’ve been at it for a good while now. We usually wrap up the day when the sun goes down and the park starts to quiet down a bit. It is a long day but rewarding.
