Working on Ring Road near Bharucha Road means you are always in the middle of a crowd. The noise from the street is something you just get used to after a while. Our shop is a small spot where we handle all kinds of mobile communication needs. Most people stop by because they are already passing through the area for work or errands. We do a lot of recharges and fix small hardware problems that pop up. It’s a simple setup with a wooden desk and some glass shelves for the phones. There’s always a tangle of wires near the back because we’re testing different chargers or checking if a battery is still good. We don't have any scripted ways of talking to people; we just greet them and see what’s wrong with their device. Some days are incredibly hectic and we barely have time to eat lunch, while other days we just sit and watch the traffic go by. The floor gets dusty really fast because of the main road being right there, so we are always cleaning up. We try to be fair with what we charge because we know how important phones are to everyone these days. It’s a basic business, but it keeps us busy and we get to meet all sorts of people from across the city who are just passing through the Ring Road junction.
