The shop opens at ten every morning. We get the keys out and lift the heavy shutter at Varachha Road 5. It usually takes a minute to get the dust off the glass counters because the road outside is always busy with traffic and construction. There is a small fan that stays on all day to keep the air moving. Most of the time, people come in because they dropped their phone and the screen is a mess. We have boxes of tempered glass and different covers stacked up on the shelves behind the counter. It isn't a very big place, but we manage to fit everything in. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to sit for a bit while they wait for the bus. The lighting is a bit bright, but it helps when looking at small screws and tiny parts inside a phone. We spend a lot of time just cleaning chargers and checking if batteries are holding a charge. Lunch is usually eaten right here on the small table in the back. By the evening, the street gets really noisy with all the bikes and cars going past our door. We keep a diary for all the repairs so we don't mix up the handsets. It’s just how things go here every day. We close up when the sun goes down and the streetlights come on, making sure everything is locked tight before heading home. It's just a regular shop where things get fixed. We make sure to check the locks twice.
