We are located at No. 19-20 in Shivdhara Rashel Park, over in Dhoran Pardi. It’s near Kapodra and the Gaypagla area, so it’s a bit of a specific spot to find if you aren't from around here. Shiva Knitts is mainly about the machines and the yarn. We have a couple of units joined together to give us enough room for the knitting frames. The sound of the needles clicking is something you get used to after about five minutes. We spend a lot of time looking at patterns and making sure the tension is right on the machines. It’s a lot of manual work, even with the equipment we have. The floors usually have a bit of lint and thread on them by the end of the day, but we sweep up every evening. We don’t have a big fancy sign or a reception desk. You just walk in and you’re right there in the middle of where everything happens. We have a few guys who handle the heavy lifting and others who watch the machines. It’s a steady rhythm. The neighborhood is mostly other small businesses like ours, so we all get along. We just focus on getting the batches done and sent out. It’s a simple life, working with textiles and keeping the machines running smooth. We usually keep the doors open for ventilation because it gets stuffy with all the thread around. It’s how we do things here every day.
