We are located at 20/12, Mahavir Nagar, which is right near the Gayatri Temple. Most people think of the big airport when they hear the name, but we are just an office on Udhna Magdalla Road. It’s a busy street with lots of dust and noise from the trucks going by. I’ve been working here for a while now, sitting at the same desk. We handle a lot of the back-end stuff that people don't really see. It’s mostly computer work and talking to folks on the phone who are stressed about their flights. Sometimes the printer jams right when we have a line of people out the door, and we just have to tell them to wait a minute. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady. The temple nearby is a good landmark for people who get lost trying to find us. We have a small cooler for water and some old chairs for people to sit in while they wait. My colleagues and I usually share lunch that we bring from home. We talk about our families and the heat. Surat gets so hot in May that the fans in here barely do anything. We just keep the files organized and try to make sure nobody’s ticket has a mistake on it. It’s a lot of staring at screens and typing in names correctly. That is basically our whole day here.
