We are located out in the Khunmoh industrial area, right near the Saman post office. It is a bit of a drive to get here from the main town, but this is where all the heavy work happens. The district around here is mostly factories and warehouses, so it’s always loud with the sound of machinery and big trucks moving cement around. Our facility at Saifco Cements is quite large and there is always something going on, whether it’s maintenance on the kilns or loading up the transport vehicles for the morning runs. The air is thick with the smell of industry. We have a lot of local guys working here who have been with us for years. They know the machines better than anyone. It’s a tough environment, especially in the winter months when the cold hits this part of the country, but the work doesn't really stop. We have a small office section where the paperwork gets handled, though most of the action is out on the floor. There is no air conditioning out there, just the grit of the job. Lunch breaks are usually spent sitting around the canteen talking about family or the local news. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We just make cement and try to keep the supply moving out to the sites where it’s needed for building. Most days we are just focused on keeping the machines running.
