Out here in Rapur, things move a bit slower, and that is how we like it at our school in Kapu Vedhi. We decided to focus on English medium because parents in the Nellore area were asking for it more and more. The building is simple, tucked away in the neighborhood where it’s mostly quiet except for when the kids arrive. We have a few desks and chairs that have seen a lot of use over the years, but they still hold up. The teachers here aren't from far away; they are local people who care about the village. We spend the morning hours working through the textbooks and the afternoons usually involve some drawing or just talking about the day. It gets quite hot in the summer, so we have fans going in every room, though sometimes the power cuts off and we just open the doors wider. You won't find any flashy signs or big marketing posters here. We just have the school name out front and a gate that we lock up every evening. It feels like a second home for most of us who work here. The kids bring their tiffin boxes and sit together under the shade during the break. It’s just a normal part of life in this part of town. We don't try to be anything we aren't, just a place for learning and growing up in Rapur without too much fuss.
