Orient Craft Export Industry

Down in Gali Number 13 in Raj Nagar-II, that’s where our building is. It’s Rzh-879 in the Palam Colony area of New Delhi. Being part of Orient Craft Export Industry means we’re always looking at stacks of boxes ready to go out to the port. It’s a bit of a maze getting here if you don’t know the narrow streets of New Delhi 110045. The neighborhood is very lively and there's always something going on. There’s always someone selling snacks or fixing a bike nearby on the corner. Inside our building, it’s all business. We’ve got stacks of materials and finished goods waiting for the trucks to arrive. It’s not a polished corporate office with glass walls. It’s a real factory environment where people sweat and work hard. The ceiling fans are always humming to keep us cool. We don’t have much in the way of decoration on the walls. Just the tools we need and the long benches for the workers. People here know their jobs well and don't need to be told what to do twice. We don’t talk much about "strategies" or "visions" like they do in the big firms. We just talk about the next shipment and the quality of the stitch. It gets pretty loud when everyone is talking over the machines. The rain sometimes leaks a little near the back door, but we just put a bucket there and keep moving. It’s a tough, busy life but it’s what we do.
