Na Freelancer

I work out of a first-floor spot in Safdarjung Enclave. It's at A 2 34, right in the middle of New Delhi 110029. Being a freelancer means I don't have a big staff or a receptionist. It's just me mostly. The room has a window that looks out onto the street. I see people walking their dogs or going to the market every day. It’s a nice area, quite green compared to some other parts of the city. I’ve set up my desk near the light. My setup is simple, just a computer and a lot of notebooks scattered around. I started doing this a while ago because I liked the flexibility. Sometimes the internet acts up, which is a bit of a pain, but that’s just how it goes in Delhi. I don't have a big sign outside. If you come by, you just have to know which door it is. It’s a lived-in space, not some sterile office. I keep my coffee mug on the table and there's always a stack of papers that needs sorting. Work comes in, I finish it, and then I go for a walk in the enclave. It’s a quiet life for the most part. I don't do much marketing or anything. Most of my work comes from people I've known for years. It’s just a practical way to earn a living without all the corporate noise.
