Institute For Defence Studies Anlyses

We work out of the Development Enclave on Rao Tula Ram Marg. It's in the Delhi Cantt area, which is pretty quiet compared to the rest of the city. Our place is basically an institute where we study things related to defense. There are a lot of people here who spend their whole day looking at data and writing things down. We have been in this location for quite a while now. The building is solid and there is plenty of space for all the books we keep. It’s a bit of a trek to get here if you don’t have a car, but there are buses. We don't really deal with the public much. Most of what we do is for reports and research. It’s a very professional environment, but it feels lived-in too. You’ll see stacks of papers on almost every desk. We have a small canteen where everyone goes for lunch. The talk there is usually about global events or whatever research is being done. It’s not a place for quick answers. Everything takes time because we have to be careful with the facts. We like the campus because it has some trees and it’s a bit more peaceful than the main roads. It’s a steady kind of life here. We just show up, do our reading and writing, and try to make sense of the world. It’s a simple routine but we’ve been doing it for years. People come and go, but the work stays much the same.
