The office is located at F 108 58 in Katwaria Sarai, New Delhi. This part of the city is always packed with people, especially with all the students and residents living in the narrow lanes nearby. Our branch is right in the thick of it. It’s a modest space, nothing too large or impressive. We have the usual desks, a few chairs for people to sit on while they wait, and cabinets full of ledgers and documents. The dust from the street always seems to find its way inside, so we spend a lot of time wiping down our keyboards. We handle the basic banking stuff, like taking deposits and helping people with their passbooks. It is a lot of repetitive work, but it keeps us busy from morning until evening. The noise from the traffic outside is a constant backdrop to everything we do here. Sometimes we have to pause our conversations when a loud truck goes by. We don’t use any complicated jargon or try to sound like a big corporate entity. We are just a small team of workers trying to keep everything organized. The tea guy comes around a couple of times a day, which is a nice break from the screen. We just do our best to get the paperwork finished so we can close up and head into the Delhi traffic ourselves. It’s just a regular workplace.
