Freelancer

I’m over at A 601 in Swami Dayananda Society, which is located in New Delhi. It’s a residential society where families live, so it’s a pretty normal place to have a home office. Being a freelancer here means I’ve turned one of the rooms into my little workspace. It’s got a window that looks out over the common area, which is nice when I need to look at something other than a monitor for a minute. I don’t have a fancy business setup with signs or anything. If you walked past, you wouldn’t even know there’s work happening inside. I handle various projects for people, mostly through my computer. Some days I’m busy from sunrise till way past dinner, and other days are a bit more relaxed. I like the flexibility, even though it means I never really leave the office. Living in a society like this means there’s always a bit of chatter in the hallways or the sound of the lift going up and down, but it’s part of the environment. I’ve been doing this for a while, and it has its ups and downs. I have to manage everything on my own, which can be stressful, but I like being in control of my own schedule. It’s a practical way to live and work without all the extra baggage of a traditional job. It suits my lifestyle and keeps things simple enough for me to stay focused.
