Dms Rice Mills Private Limited operates from the top floor of Plot No: Rz-F2/150 in Mahavir Enclave. Being on the top floor means a lot of stairs, which we definitely feel by the end of the day. Gali No-5 is a typical residential-commercial mix area in South West Delhi. We aren't a huge factory with smoking chimneys; this is more of our central hub where we manage the rice business. We deal with different varieties of rice coming in and going out. The office is a bit cluttered with samples and ledgers. We don't have a fancy reception desk or anyone to bring you coffee in a porcelain cup. It’s a practical space where we get the books done and talk to our suppliers. Sometimes the internet goes down and we have to do everything on paper, but we’re used to it. The view from the top is mostly just other rooftops and water tanks. We started this because we knew a lot about the rice trade from our father. It’s steady work, though the market prices change every day and that keeps us on our toes. We don't make big promises, we just try to get the right bags to the right people on time. It’s just us, working away in the heat of Delhi. Even when the monsoon rain hits the roof hard, we keep sorting through the paperwork and planning the next shipment for the local markets. It gets busy, but we manage.
