You can find Dona Alcina Resorts right across from the Candolim Health Centre. It’s a pretty well-known spot in this part of Goa. We aren't one of those brand-new luxury hotels with a thousand stars. We are a bit older, and the building has that classic look you see a lot of in Candolim. The sun can be quite hard on the paint, so we are always doing some bit of maintenance here or there. The pool is usually where most people hang out during the day. Our staff is mostly from around the village or nearby towns. We spend our mornings checking people in and making sure the gardens don't get too overgrown. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the salt air and the humidity. Guests come here because they want to be near the beach but stay somewhere that feels more like a regular place than a corporate chain. We don’t have a fancy concierge desk with people in white gloves. It’s just us. We show you to your room, tell you where the good shacks are, and let you get on with your holiday. The nights are usually quiet once the music from the nearby bars fades out. It’s a simple setup, and we like it that way. We’ve been here a long time and seen the neighborhood change a lot.
