Our office is up on the fifth floor of the Kusal Bazar Building, specifically at 32-33. Being in Nehru Place means it is always a bit chaotic downstairs with all the electronics shops and people everywhere. The lift in this building is usually slow, so we end up waiting a lot or just taking the stairs if we aren't carrying too much. Once you get up to 507, it’s a bit quieter than the street, but you can still hear the city hum. The space is filled with desks and a lot of filing cabinets. We have been here for years, so there are stacks of papers that have been around almost as long as we have. We do a lot of our work on computers now, but the old way of keeping physical files is hard to shake. We have a small window that looks out over the rooftops of other buildings. It’s not the best view, but it’s ours. We usually have the radio playing softly in the background while we work. Lunch is often grabbed from one of the stalls downstairs in the market. We aren't a big corporation with a lobby and a receptionist. You just knock and come in. One of us will be there to help with whatever is needed. It is a typical Nehru Place office—busy, a bit cluttered, and always full of things to do for the team here at Ravi Shankar & Company.
