Kumar Gauravkataria

Kumar Gauravkataria has this place at B 3 in Indira Enclave. We are right near IGNOU in New Delhi. It’s a busy part of the city because of all the students and offices around. Our spot is a bit cramped, but we make it work. There are files stacked in the corners and a few chairs for when people stop by. The street outside is always full of rickshaws and people walking. It can be quite noisy during the day. Kumar is the one in charge. He’s usually here by ten in the morning. We don’t do any big advertising. Most people find us because they live nearby or someone told them about us. It’s a very basic setup. we have a small cooler for water and a fan that barely keeps the heat away in June. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven’t gotten around to it yet. We just focus on the daily tasks. There isn’t a lot of structure, we just do what’s needed. Sometimes we have to run out to get photocopies made because our machine is acting up. It’s a very grounded, local way of working. We aren’t part of some big chain. Just a local business in New Delhi 68 trying to stay busy. The chai wala from across the street brings us four glasses every afternoon without even being asked. That’s just the routine we have established over the years.
