Kayalan

We’re based at B-113 on IGNOU Road in Neb Sarai. It’s a residential area mostly, so things are a bit quieter here than in the main markets. Kayalan is a small operation. We don’t have dozens of employees. Usually, it’s just two or three of us handling everything. The shop isn’t very big, so we have to stack things up high to make room. We spend a lot of time on our feet. People from the neighborhood drop by for what they need. We know most of the neighbors by name. IGNOU Road has grown a lot over the years, and there are way more cars now. We’ve had to change how we do things a little bit to keep up. It’s not a corporate setup with meetings and reports. We just talk about what needs to be done over a cup of tea in the afternoon. Sometimes the deliveries are late, and we have to call around to see where the truck is. That’s just part of the job. We keep the front tidy and make sure the lights are working. It’s a humble place, honestly. We don’t have a website or anything like that. We just show up every morning and open the shutters. That’s been our way of doing things for a long time. There’s a stray cat that hangs around the door, and we give it some water. The paint on the door frame is peeling a bit. We’ll paint it later.
