Henna is tucked away at 5-K in Shahpur Jat. If you know this area, you know how the lanes can be a bit of a maze for anyone visiting the first time. We’ve had this spot for a while. It’s not a big showroom with bright lights and glass windows. It’s more of a working space where things actually get made by hand. The floor is plain concrete and we have a few old chairs for when we need a break. Shahpur Jat has become very popular lately with all these new boutiques and designers, but we’ve stayed pretty much the same. We have a couple of guys who have been working with us for years. They know the routine better than I do sometimes. We drink a lot of tea while we work to keep our energy up. The name on the door is Henna, but we do all sorts of bits and pieces depending on what's needed for the day. Sometimes it’s quiet, and other times we’re scrambling to get things finished. The electricity goes out once in a while, so we keep some candles and a torch ready by the door. It’s just the way things are in these old buildings. We don't spend money on fancy flyers or social media people. We just focus on the task at hand. If you find your way through the narrow streets to 5-K, you’ll find us there, probably busy with something.
