Gopal Ice Cream

Gopal Ice Cream has been in Sadar Bazar for a long time. We are situated in Gali Barna, right by the Bara Tooti Chowk. If you’ve ever been to this part of the city, you know how crowded and hot it can get. That’s why people come to us. We aren't one of those new shops with fifty different weird flavors. We keep it traditional. We have the standard ones that people have loved for generations. The shop is old, and the walls have seen a lot of history. We still use some of the same methods my grandfather used when he first started selling ice cream from a cart. It’s hard work keeping everything frozen when the Delhi heat is hitting forty-five degrees outside. We have big freezers humming in the back all day. The floor is usually a bit damp from the ice, and the air smells like milk and sugar. We get all sorts of people, from laborers taking a break to families out for a treat. It’s a noisy spot with the traffic from the chowk always buzzing nearby. We don’t do any advertising; the word just spreads from one person to another. It’s just an honest day’s work for us. We’ll probably be here at the same spot for many more years to come.
