About Dates Walnuts Cakes – Food & Beverages in South Delhi
We do all our baking and packing at Hauz Khas Enclave, House No K 109. It’s more of a home-style setup than a big commercial bakery. Dates Walnuts Cakes is really just about what the name says. The kitchen is almost always warm because the ovens are running for hours, especially in the afternoons. You can smell the walnuts roasting from the street sometimes. We spend a lot of time cracking nuts and pitting dates by hand, which is slow work but it’s how we’ve always done it. The packaging is simple, just plain boxes and some brown paper. It gets a bit crowded in the main room when we have a big batch of cakes cooling down on the racks. We don't have a storefront with a display case, so people usually just call us or come by to pick up their orders directly from the house. It’s a family-run thing, so there’s often someone’s lunch cooking on the stove right next to where the cakes are being prepped. We don't use any fancy machinery, just old-fashioned mixers and a lot of manual labor. It's a quiet street in Hauz Khas, and we like the peace and quiet while we work. We just focus on making things that taste right and getting them to the people who ordered them for their homes.
