Computer Operator

If you have ever been to Nehru Place, you know how crazy it gets with all the people and the noise. Our office is in the Skylark Building, right up on the eighth floor at room 801. It’s a bit of a climb if the lift is acting up, which happens more often than you would think. We do a lot of data work and fixing things for people who bring their laptops in. The desks are always covered in wires and spare parts. It’s not very organized to look at, but we manage to find what we need. Being in the middle of Delhi’s biggest tech market means there’s always something happening right outside the door. You can hear the vendors shouting from the ground floor if the window is open. We usually eat our lunch at our desks while watching something on the screen. It’s a small team, mostly just guys who grew up around this part of the city and know the streets well. Sometimes customers come in looking lost because the building layout is confusing. We try to help them out. The air conditioner makes a weird rattling sound when it’s been running for too long, but it keeps us cool during the June heat. It’s just a regular workspace where we get things done without making a big fuss about it. We’ve been at 60 Nehru Place for years and it feels like home.
