Balco, Vedanta Resources

Being up here in New Delhi is a bit different from our other sites. We are located at A-113/114 on the ground floor in Dayanand Colony. It’s right in Lajpat Nagar IV, which is a pretty crowded and busy part of the city. If you’ve ever tried to park a car around here, you know what I mean. Our office for Balco and Vedanta Resources is more of a hub for the administrative and coordination stuff. It doesn’t look like a factory at all. It’s just a regular city office with desks, computers, and a lot of ringing phones. We deal with a lot of the paperwork and the higher-level stuff that doesn't happen at the plants. The street outside is always noisy with traffic and people walking to the markets. It’s a fast-paced environment, but we try to keep things grounded inside the office. We don't have a big fancy sign out front, just a simple one so people know they’ve found the right place. Most of us take the metro or buses to get in. It is a lot of emails and meetings throughout the day. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big corporate talk. We just have a job to do, making sure the communication between the Delhi office and the industrial sites stays clear. It is just a normal office life in the middle of a busy city and we just get on with it daily.
