Asha Scrap Works

Asha Scrap Works is our little yard over in Dakshinpuri B 6. It’s a regular scrap business, nothing special to look at, but we’ve been here for a long time. Every morning we open the gates and start sorting through what came in the day before. You’ll find piles of old iron, plastic crates, and stacks of newspapers. It gets quite dusty around here, especially when the wind picks up in the afternoon. We have an old scale that has seen better days, but it still works just fine. Most of the people who come by are locals from the neighborhood who have some junk to clear out. We aren't some big corporation with fancy offices. We just sit on plastic chairs and drink tea while we work. The trucks come by every few days to take the sorted metal away. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and our clothes are always stained with rust and grease. This business started thirty years ago when this part of Delhi looked very different. We just keep doing what we know. There’s no website or anything, just us at B 6. Sometimes the neighbors complain about the noise, but we try to be quiet. It’s a decent life for us. We deal with everything from copper wire to old stove parts. It's how we pay the bills and keep things moving every day.
