Avesh Mens Saloons

Our shop, Avesh Mens Saloons, is tucked away at 60-B in Haus Rani, which is right in the thick of things in Malviya Nagar. Most days, we get started early in the morning before the Delhi heat really kicks in. The street outside is always noisy with scooters and people walking to the market, but inside it stays a bit quieter. We have a few old chairs that have seen a lot of use over the years, and the mirrors have a couple of small scratches that we just got used to seeing. It is not a fancy place with bright lights or loud music, but we keep the fans running and the floor swept. Most people who come in live just down the lane or work in the nearby shops. We spend a lot of time just talking about the weather or whatever is happening on the news while we work with the scissors and clippers. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, so we just open the door wider to let the light in. There is a tea stall nearby that brings us glasses of chai when we get a break. It is a simple setup we have here in Delhi 110017, and we have been in this same spot for a while now. The walls are painted a plain color and we have some old calendars hanging up. It is just a regular place where men come to get a haircut or a shave without any fuss.
