As U Likha Saloon

If you know Katwaria Sarai, you probably know where Shop No D88 is. That’s where we are, right in the middle of Delhi 110016. The name As U Likha Saloon is just something we went with. We have been here for a few years now. It’s a small shop, not much room to move around if there are more than three people waiting. I usually handle the scissors and my cousin helps out with the shaving and washing. Katwaria Sarai is a crowded place, lots of students and people working nearby, so we see a lot of different faces every day. Some people want a quick trim and some want something they saw in a movie. We just do what they ask. The shop has some old pictures on the wall and a TV that’s usually playing some news or a movie. It can get hot in the summer but we have a fan that keeps things moving. We aren't trying to be some fancy spa. It’s just a place to get your hair cut so you look decent. We open early most days and stay until the last person leaves. Sometimes we close early if there’s a family thing going on. It’s just a local business run by local people. Most of our tools have been with us since the start and we know how to use them well. It is a busy life but it is our life.
