Apna Hair Saloon

We are located over at Shop No-H-8 in the Jal Vihar Market. If you know the Gurudwara in Lajpat Nagar 1, then we are right near there. It is a busy little corner of the city. I started this saloon because I liked the idea of working for myself. Now, it is where I spend ten or twelve hours every single day. We have the usual setup with the mirrors and the reclining chairs that have definitely seen better days. The neighborhood kids come in after school sometimes, and the older men stop by in the evenings to catch up. It gets a bit cramped when there are three or four people waiting, but everyone is usually patient. We do not have a fancy waiting area, just a wooden bench and some old newspapers to read. The sounds from the market come right inside, the hawkers shouting and the cars honking. It is noisy but it feels alive. Being close to the Gurudwara means there are always people walking past the front door. I have lived around here for a long time, so I know most of the faces. We keep things simple here. A haircut is a haircut. We do not try to be anything we are not. It is just a local shop for the people living in Jal Vihar. Sometimes we share a cup of tea with the shopkeeper next door when it is quiet in the afternoon. It is a simple life.
