Anil Saloon

If you’re walking down the Main Road in Katwaria Sarai, you’ll probably see us at Anil Saloon. We are right there at A-125, pretty close to the bus stand which means there is always noise and people rushing by outside. It’s a small shop, but we’ve managed to fit everything we need inside. We have the usual barber chairs and some old pictures on the walls to make it feel a bit more like home. My day usually starts with opening the shutters and cleaning the glass before the first customers show up. Since we are so close to the bus stop, we get all sorts of people stopping in. Some are just passing through Delhi and need a quick tidy-up, while others have been coming to us for years. We don't really do anything fancy here, just basic hair cutting and shaving. The mirrors are a bit old, and sometimes the fan makes a clicking sound, but it keeps the air moving. We keep the scissors sharp and the combs clean, and that’s about it. There’s no big corporate office behind us, just a few chairs and some hard work. On rainy days, the floor gets a bit muddy from people coming in off the street, so we’re always grabbing the mop. It’s just a regular part of life in this neighborhood. We stay open until late, making sure everyone gets their turn.
