If you walk into the Defence Colony Main Market and find shop number 27, that is where we are. This market has been around forever and we have seen a lot of changes from our front window. The salon itself is straightforward. We have the big mirrors, the reclining chairs that have seen a lot of use over the years, and rows of glass bottles on the shelves. It’s a busy spot because the market is always full of people running errands. We get a mix of regulars who have been coming for years and people who just happened to be passing by and needed a trim. The smell of hairspray and tea is pretty much always in the air. We don't go in for anything too fancy. We just focus on the scissors and the combs. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, or the water pressure acts up, but that’s just life in an old market building. Our staff mostly just chats with the customers about the news or what’s happening in the colony. It’s a comfortable place where you can just sit and get your hair done without a lot of fuss. When the sun starts to set, the market lights come on and it gets even busier outside our door. We just close up when the last customer is finished.
