Binani Cement

I’m based at Qtr. No. F/33, which is actually within the Jk Lakshmi Cement area in Sirohi, Rajasthan. It’s a bit of an interesting setup because even though we are Binani Cement, our housing and workspace are situated here. It’s a very industrial environment, 307019 is the pin code if you’re looking for it on a map. My days are mostly spent in and around the quarters or at the nearby site. The air always has that faint smell of minerals and heavy work. Rajasthan heat is no joke, especially in the middle of the afternoon when the wind picks up. I’ve got my small office area set up with just the essentials. It’s not pretty to look at, just a lot of grey and brown tones. I deal with a lot of the local logistics, making sure the loads are ready and the drivers know where they’re going. Sometimes there are delays, or the weather makes things difficult, but that’s part of the trade. I’ve lived in this quarter for a while now, and it’s become home. You get to know the other families and workers living nearby. We share news and complain about the heat over tea. It’s a simple existence, focused on the daily tasks and keeping the cement moving out to the buyers. There’s always someone coming by with a question or a form to sign, so it stays busy enough.
