Sharma Engineering Works

Our shop, Sharma Engineering Works, is at Plot no. 45, Survey No. 126, in the Amli Industrial Estate. If you know the Amli area, you know it’s packed with small workshops. Ours is no different. We have a lot of metal-cutting machines and lathes. The floor is usually covered in small metal shavings and a bit of oil. It’s a place where we fix things and build parts. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing person. Most of our work comes from people just knowing we are here. The building is an older one, so it has its quirks, like a door that sticks when it’s raining. We have a few benches where we do the hand-finishing work. Sometimes it’s quite loud when the heavy cutters are going. We just wear our earplugs and get on with it. There’s a small desk in the corner with a lot of old papers and blueprints. We’ve been in this spot for quite some time, and we know most of the people in the other plots. We usually have a bit of a chat with the tea seller when he comes around. It’s honest work and we don't try to make it sound like more than it is. We just do the engineering work that’s needed. The day goes by pretty fast when you’re busy.
