Viramma Resort

Up here on Hill Cart Road in the Darjeeling district, we have a bit of a different pace of life. Our resort is a place where people come when they want to get away from the crowded city streets and the heat. It isn’t a fancy place with a bunch of high-tech gadgets. It’s more of a simple setup with rooms that look out over the hills. We handle most of the work ourselves, from checking people in to making sure there’s enough hot water for everyone. The mountain air can get pretty chilly, especially at night, so we make sure the blankets are thick. We’ve got some garden space where you can sit and look at the clouds. Sometimes the fog gets so thick you can’t see the road, which is actually kind of nice if you want to be left alone. We serve basic meals that are hot and filling, which is what you want when you’re up in the mountains. The road to get here is a bit winding, so you have to take your time driving up. We don't have a big team of people in uniforms. It’s just us and a few helpers from the nearby villages. We like the quiet life up here and we try to keep the resort that way for our guests. If you’re looking for a simple place to rest your head in the hills, we’re here on the road.
