Deekshakunta Turmeric Farmer Producer Company Limited is located at 6-34 in Deekshakunta, which is part of the Nekkonda Mandal. We are a small collective of farmers who all grow turmeric in this region. It’s a hard crop to manage sometimes, but we’ve been doing it a long time. Our setup is very basic, just a small office where we can keep our records and talk about the upcoming season. We aren't interested in being a big corporation with lots of rules. We just want to make sure that the people growing the turmeric get a fair shake. Nekkonda is a place where everyone is tied to the land in one way or another. You can see the fields stretching out all around us. When the processing starts, the air smells very strong and spicy. We spend our days visiting different plots of land and making sure the drying process is going right. It’s a lot of manual work and sweating in the sun. We don't have any fancy mission statements or slogans. We just get together, drink some tea, and figure out how to sell what we’ve grown. The office gets a bit dusty because of the trucks passing by, but we don't mind. It’s just how things are here in Deekshakunta. We take things as they come and try to support each other through the good years and the bad ones.
