The Lounge (The Oberoi Cecil)

The Lounge is located inside the Oberoi Cecil Hotel over in Shimla. We are right in the Choura Maidan area, which is a pretty well-known part of town. It gets quite cold here in the winters, as anyone from 171001 can tell you. We spend our days inside the hotel, looking after things. The building has a lot of history to it. You can find us pretty easily once you get to Choura Maidan. It's a quiet spot compared to some of the busier parts of Shimla. We see a lot of people coming and going from the hotel throughout the day. The windows look out at the surrounding hills when the weather is clear. Sometimes the mist rolls in and you can't see much at all. We just keep the fire going or the heaters on and wait for the day to pass. It’s a steady kind of life here. We don’t do much else besides being here at The Lounge. Most people who live nearby know where the Cecil is. It's been there for a long time. We try to keep things decent for whoever walks in. It’s not a complicated place. Just a room in a hotel in the mountains. We deal with the snow and the rain just like everyone else in Shimla. It’s just how things are at 171001. We’re usually here from morning until the evening. It’s a job like any other, just with a bit more of a view sometimes.
