About Association For Rural Technologies – Agriculture & Farming in Shimla
We operate out of Jagdish Thapa’s place in Village Kothi Deora, which is a bit of a trek if you aren't from around here. Being in Solan district means we see a lot of different weather, especially during the rains. The post office in Ghatti is our main link to the outside world for mail. We mostly focus on things that help out in rural spots. It’s not like those big city offices with air conditioning and glass walls. Here, it’s mostly just us sitting around a table figuring things out. Association For Rural Technologies started because people needed practical solutions for their daily problems. We spend a lot of time talking to the villagers. Sometimes we meet under a tree or in someone’s kitchen. It’s very informal. If you come looking for us via Saproon, just ask around, people know where we are. We don’t have a lot of fancy equipment, just what we need. Life moves a bit slower in the hills, but the work is steady. We handle a lot of paperwork and occasionally try out new tools. It gets cold in the winter, so we usually have some tea going. We aren’t trying to change the whole world, just making things a bit more manageable for the folks nearby. It’s just how we live and work in this part of the country, staying grounded in the village life every day.
