Hi-Tech Concrete

Down in Mawiong, specifically in the Umjapung area along G S Road, you’ll find where we run Hi-Tech Concrete. The weather here can be a bit damp, which isn’t always great for concrete, but we make it work. We are right on the main road, so there is always a lot of movement. The trucks coming from the city are constantly roaring past us. Our setup is pretty simple. We have the mixing area and a small shack where we keep the records. It gets cold in the mornings, especially when the mist is still hanging over the hills. We usually start the day with a hot tea before we get the equipment moving. The name Hi-Tech might sound like we have a lot of computers, but it’s mostly just us and the heavy machinery. We spend a lot of time cleaning out the mixers because if the concrete sets in there, you’re in real trouble. The staff is mostly from around here, so we all know the shortcuts to avoid the traffic on G S Road. It’s not a glamorous job. We end the day covered in grey splashes and looking for a place to sit down. We don’t have a website or anything like that. Most people just see our gate from the road and pull in. It’s a straightforward business and we’ve been doing it this way for years. We just keep our heads down and work.
