Tagore Shiksha Niketan

Tagore Shiksha Niketan is situated out on Karnal Road, right by Sh 82 in Kertu. It is a part of the Shamli area in Muzaffarnagar. Being on the main road means we see a lot of trucks and cars passing by all day. The school itself is a plain building. We don't have much in the way of big signs or flashy stuff. It’s just a place for the local kids to come and get their schooling done. The 247776 pin code covers a lot of ground, and many of our students come from the nearby farms and houses. We have been operating here in Shamli for quite a while. The rooms are basic with benches and boards. During the summers it gets quite hot, but we have some fans going. The teachers are mostly local people who have lived in Muzaffarnagar their whole lives. We don't talk much about missions or visions; we just make sure the books are open and the kids are learning what they need to. It’s a practical kind of place. Sometimes the dust from the road gets in, but that’s just how it is here. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too high. It’s just us doing our job for the community in Kertu. There aren't any big frills, just a solid building where the village children can sit and study together every day. It’s a long day, but we get it done.
