Babu Hair Care Saloon

If you walk down G Gali in Dilshad Garden, you’ll find us at 488/A. We are right near the car market, so there’s always the smell of engine oil and the sound of metal clanking nearby. It’s a tough neighborhood in a way, but the people are solid. Babu Hair Care Saloon is where the mechanics and the shop owners come when they need to clean up a bit. You can imagine how it is—someone comes in with grease on their hands and wants a fresh look. I keep a lot of old towels ready. The shop isn’t very large, and the tiles on the floor are a bit cracked from years of use. I don't mind it though. It shows the place has been used well. I’ve spent more time inside these four walls than I have in my own house, I think. We have a small TV that stays on the news channel mostly, though nobody really watches it closely. Sentences are short here because we are usually busy working. I’ve lived in Delhi all my life and this little corner of Dilshad Garden is where I feel most useful. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are by word of mouth. It’s been that way for a long time and I hope it stays that way. We just keep our heads down and work.
