Chawda Ceramics

Chawda Ceramics sits right in the middle of the chaos in Ranigunj. We are at number 5-4-76/1, right across from the Honda car showroom, which is actually a pretty good landmark since this street gets so crowded. Ranigunj is a loud place, full of people hauling stuff and trucks honking all day long. Inside our shop, it’s mostly just boxes of tiles and ceramics stacked up as high as we can get them. It gets a bit stuffy in the back during the summer months. We don’t have any of those modern glass windows or air conditioning that works all the time. It’s just a regular local shop where we keep track of things in big ledger books and try to make sure the inventory matches the sales. My hands are usually dry from handling the ceramic pieces all day. We spend a lot of time helping people pick out something that isn't too expensive but won't break the first time it’s dropped. The neighbors are other hardware and tile guys, so we all know each other. Sometimes we share a pot of coffee or help each other move something heavy when a delivery comes in. It is a lot of work keeping everything organized in such a small space, but we manage to get through the day somehow. Most evenings we are just tired and ready to lock up and head home to escape the noise.
