You can find Padmavathi Granites over in Secunderabad at Sairam Towers. The exact spot is 1-1-151/1 on Alexander Road. It’s a busy intersection and the noise from the street never really stops. Our office is just one of those standard rooms where the floor is always a bit dusty from the samples we keep lying around. Working with granite means you’re always dealing with something heavy and hard to move. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who have been doing this for a while. The desks are covered in old papers and the phone rings more than I’d like some days. We try to keep things simple here. There isn't any fancy decor or expensive furniture. We just have the stone slabs and the tools we need to measure them. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour or two and we just sit by the window and watch the cars go by on Alexander Road until it comes back on. It’t not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. We get all sorts of people walking in, some who know exactly what they want and others who just want to look at the colors. We spend a lot of time explaining that every piece of stone is a bit different. By the time we close up, the city lights are usually starting to flicker on outside.
