Laxmi Seva Beauty Parlour

The shop is tucked away in Chikkadpally, right near the vegetable market at Baghlingampally. You can usually hear the vendors shouting about tomatoes and greens from the doorstep. It gets very crowded in the mornings when everyone is out doing their grocery shopping. Some of the ladies stop by here after they finish picking up their vegetables for the day. They come in with their bags and sit for a bit to rest their feet while we work. The space isn’t huge, but it fits what we need. There is a specific smell of hair products mixed with the faint scent of the market outside. We have been in this spot at 1-8-178/A for a while now, and the neighbors all know us. The fan overhead wobbles a little when it’s on the highest setting, but it keeps the Hyderabad heat away. We don’t have a big sign or anything flashy, just the name on the door. It feels like a small community here. Most of the people who come in are regulars who live just a few streets away. We talk about the prices of vegetables or what’s happening in the news while doing threads or hair. It’s just a normal, everyday place where work gets done and people catch up on the local gossip before heading back to their kitchens. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just wait it out with the door open to catch whatever breeze comes through.
