G L Brothers is situated at Plot No 5-5-54/12 in the Hariganga Market area of Ranigunj. If you know the market, you know it’s a place that’s always moving, with people loading and unloading goods at all hours. Our plot is tucked into a row of similar buildings, and we have a large front area where we keep most of our stock stacked up. It isn't a showroom with fancy carpets; it’s a working warehouse where things get moved around constantly. The floor is concrete and has a few cracks in it from years of heavy boxes being dragged across. We have a small office area boxed off in one corner where we keep the ledgers and a computer that’s a bit slow but gets the job done. The smell of the market—a mix of old cardboard and dust—is something you just get used to after the first week. We drink a lot of water throughout the day because it gets stuffy inside when the shutters are half-closed. Most of the people we deal with are other traders from the area, so there is a lot of shouting back and forth across the lanes. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. We just focus on keeping the inventory straight and making sure everything is where it should be when someone comes to pick it up.
