Earth Movers

We are set up at No-47 in Khandala, right near the railway tracks in the Shivajinagar part of Bhade. It is a rugged area, which fits the kind of work we do. Being near the railway means we hear the trains go by all the time, which is just part of the background noise for us now. We deal with heavy machinery used for digging and shifting dirt. The yard is usually full of yellow machines and the smell of diesel. Khandala can get pretty wet during the rains, which makes the ground muddy and the work a lot tougher. We spend a lot of time cleaning mud off the treads and making sure everything is running right. Our office is a small building on the lot, nothing more than a place to keep the keys and the logbooks. It is a no-nonsense environment. People come here when they have a lot of earth that needs moving, and we help them get the right equipment for it. We are just a group of people who know our way around an engine and a hydraulic lift. It is hard work, and we usually go home with grease under our fingernails. That is just how it is when you work with big iron. There is always something that needs fixing or a machine that needs to be moved to a new site across town. We just keep at it until the day is done.
