Independant Advocate

I run my practice here in Arag, which is a small place in the Miraj area of Sangli district. My office is basically just at the post address here. As an Independant Advocate, I handle things myself. It’s a rural setting, so things move at a different pace than the big cities like Mumbai or Pune. I've lived in this district for a long time. People around here usually know where to find me if they need help with something legal. It’s not a big fancy law firm with marble floors. It’s just a room with books and some chairs. Being independent means I don’t have to answer to anyone else. I just do the work that comes my way from the local community. The village of Arag is quiet, and that suits me just fine. My family has roots here. I spend a lot of my time dealing with local issues and paperwork. It’s a practical life. Sometimes the commute to the court in Miraj takes a while, but it’s part of the job. I don't use any big words to describe what I do. I just help people with their legal matters. If someone stops by the house, I'm usually around. It’s a simple way to practice law, keeping things close to home and helping the neighbors. My desk is piled high with folders and my old typewriter is still sitting in the corner, though I use a laptop now. It’s a bit dusty but it’s home. The walk to the post office is short, which is handy for all the documents I have to mail.
