Down here on Manerajuri Road in Chinchani, things move at a slightly different pace than in the big cities. Our school is right there, and it is a big part of the local life in this bit of Sangli. We have students coming in from the surrounding areas every morning. The building is functional and sits right on the road, so it is easy for everyone to find us. We spend a lot of time making sure the classrooms are ready and the fans are working, especially when it gets really hot out in the afternoons. It is a practical place where we focus on the basic needs of the students. We have our assembly in the morning, then it is straight to classes. The teachers here are local people who care about the kids because they see them at the market or around town too. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment, but we have enough books and boards to get the job done properly. The playground is where most of the action happens during lunch, and it can get quite dusty when the wind picks up. We manage the schedules and try to keep the parents updated on how their kids are doing. It is just honest work, day in and day out. We aren't trying to be something we are not. We are just a local school providing a place for the kids in Chinchani to get their education and grow up.
