If you ever find yourself on MG Road in Patancheru, you’ll find us at 4-15-17. Sri Vijaya Laxmi Engg Works is basically a big workshop where we spend our days dealing with various engineering tasks. It’s hot in the summer, and the fans mostly just move the warm air around, but nobody complains much. We’ve got a lot of tools and heavy parts lying around the floor, so you have to watch where you step when you walk through the main bay. Most of the people working here live nearby, so we’re a local bunch. We don’t have a marketing department or anything like that. Our sign out front is a bit faded from the sun, but people in the area know where we are. We deal with all sorts of mechanical stuff that comes through the door. Sometimes it’s a quick fix, and other times we’re scratching our heads for a few hours trying to figure out why a piece of equipment isn’t behaving. We eat our lunch together in the back, usually talking about cricket or something happening in the neighborhood. It’s a simple life, really. We make sure the machines are oiled and the work gets out the door on time. There’s no corporate talk here; we just speak plain English and get to the point. If something is broken, we tell you. If we can fix it, we do. That’s how we’ve always operated here in Patancheru.
